Design

The Continental GTC A is easy to identify from the outside, thanks to the chrome ‘A’ badges on its fenders. It comes with beautiful 21” ten-spoke wheels, with five spokes featuring a bright machined finish and the other five painted grey. At the front of the car is possibly it’s most striking exterior feature: a polished chrome, vertical-vaned radiator grille.

The fabric roof can be specified in a wide range of colours and fabrics, to complement both your choice of exterior paint and interior colour scheme. It can be lowered or raised quickly at the touch of a button, at speeds of up to 30 mph (50 km/h). And when it’s closed, its four separate layers insulate it so well that it’s easy to forget you are in a convertible.

Bentley has worked hard to ensure that the car’s interior and exterior design work in harmony together, which is a vital consideration in a convertible, because when the roof is down, the inside and the outside become one. That’s why the roof closure mechanism has been designed with a very low tonneau cover, which results in a smooth visual transition from interior to exterior.

Elsewhere in the cabin, there are ‘A’ emblems on the treadplates, the open-pore Crown Cut Walnut fascia and the fluted leather seats. The Colour Specification is included as standard, which means you can choose from Bentley’s full range of leather and carpet colours, and cabin colour layouts.

Performance

This is an incredibly thrilling car to drive, thanks to its 4.0 litre, twin-turbocharged petrol engine. It is capable of generating 542 bhp (550 PS), enabling it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds), with a top speed of 198 mph (318 km/h)*.

It also has a number of features that optimise its handling. It features active all-wheel drive, which means that the moment the car detects a lack of traction, it can redistribute power between the two axles as required, to give you the best possible grip on the road.

The car can be optionally ordered with Bentley Dynamic Ride, an electronic anti-roll system, which stiffens the suspension to stabilise the car when cornering, without compromising on its comfortable ride the rest of the time. Cars with this option also feature all-wheel steering, which makes for a smaller turning circle when manoeuvring in tight spaces, as well as more graceful lane changes when driving at speed.

Technology

The Continental GTC A includes the Front Seat Comfort Specification as standard. The means the driver and front passenger get electrically adjustable headrests, cushions and side bolsters, along with built-in seat heating, ventilation and massage. Multi-zone air conditioning, meanwhile, enables everyone in the car to set the temperature to suit their needs, while an air ioniser purifies the air for the benefit of all occupants.

For the driver, the optional Touring Specification adds a package of systems that make long journeys easier and more enjoyable, from Adaptive Cruise Control to night vision and a head-up display.

The optional Bentley Rotating Display allows you to choose how many technological features you want to see while driving your car. It revolves at the touch of a button, allowing you to select the touchscreen, a veneered panel housing three analogue dials or a simple expanse of veneered surface, for the ultimate in minimalist motoring.

Bentley’s attention to detail is on display everywhere you look, right down to the graphics in the driver’s information panel, which have been designed specifically to match the luxurious character of the car.

Personalisation

You can choose from seven standard exterior colours, with over 80 to choose from when you consider the extended range and Mulliner Paints – which now include the stunning metallic turquoise, Topaz Blue.

The roof can be specified in your choice of seven different fabrics – and if you choose to add carbon ceramic brakes, the callipers can be painted red or black. You can also turn most of the chrome detailing black by adding the Blackline Specification, or add a carbon fibre bodykit with the Styling Specification – both of which give the car a sportier appearance.

Inside the car, you can opt to upgrade the fluted upholstery to Bentley’s stunning Harmony Diamond Quilting and you can choose from three different sound systems – the standard Bentley Signature Audio system, the optional Bang and Olufsen for Bentley, featuring illuminated speaker grilles, or the incredible Naim for Bentley system, offering the ultimate in-car sound quality.
